Synopsis
Queer Muslim graduate student Azra returns to her native Pakistan after her father’s unexpected passing reconnecting with her strictly religious mother Miriam. Despite the distance and ideological divide that have driven them apart, Azra and Miriam forge a new bond at the intersection of East and West. Evoking the vibrant spirit of Bollywood, THE QUEEN OF MY DREAMS is a luminous dramedy about the complicated mother-daughter relationship. In her feature directorial debut, writer-director Fawzia Mirza crafts a semi-autobiographical triumph named one of Canada’s Top 10 Films of 2023 by the Toronto International Film Festival.
