Synopsis
A HOUSE IS NOT A DISCO offers a captivating exploration of Fire Island Pines, a renowned LGBTQ+ community situated just 50 miles from New York City. As a new generation of Millennial homeowners reimagine the Pines for a more inclusive future, the film delves into the lives of an unforgettable cast of eccentrics, activists, drifters, and first-timers. They reflect on the legacy of this storied queer beach town while preparing for the biggest challenge it has faced since the AIDS crisis: the rising seas caused by climate change. Filmed with a Frederick Wiseman-esque style, the documentary paints a vibrant, thought-provoking portrait of a community in transition, grappling with both its past and its uncertain future.
