It’s Spring time and Jiang Cheng is going through a special journey with his friends Luo Haitao and Li Jing on the picturesque Nanjing coast. The three are entangled in complicated romantic relationships, both homosexual and heterosexual, in an unforeseen love triangle. The film reveals the complexity and deep jealousy of obsessive love from the three protagonists’ disparate perspectives. This is director Lou Ye’s opus, a film with a strong sense of the humanity and sentimentality of a marginalised sub-culture and life in China, as generally represented by the “6th generation of China’s Directors”. Lou Ye’s coaxes probably the most passionate homosexual performance in the history of China’s cinema from his actors.

In a post-9/11, Bush-exhausted New York City, Shortbus tells its story with sexual frankness, suggesting new ways to reconcile questions of the mind, pleasures of the flesh and imperatives of the heart.

Director: Ella Lemhagen
Cast: Gustaf Skarsgård, Torkel Petersson, Thomas Ljungman

Swedish couple Goran and Sven have everything they could possibly desire: great jobs and a wonderful new home in the suburbs. Having been approved as adoptive parents their quest to become the perfect family will soon be complete. However, a bureaucratic blunder means that instead of an 18-month old baby, a troubled teen with a history of violence arrives at their door. Adapted from a three-person stage play by director Ella Lemhagen, Patrick Age 1.5 takes a “sit-com”-like premise and develops it into a thoughtful, funny and provocative rumination on tolerance and understanding. The excellent cast deliver moving yet humourous performance, and the accurate portrayal of a gay family makes for a heart-warming story.
