LGBT people in Cambodia seem not to have much freedom as other people do. Transgenders are still faced with discrimination which leads them to turn to drugs and prostitution because they have no choice of work or a good education. Lives Under the Red Light is a portrait of the lives of three ladyboys who work in the sex industry in Phnom Penh and the hardships of living life on the edges of society in a developing country. Lives Under the Red Light is the first Cambodian film ever nominated for the Iris Prize.

But at 30 stones, Stavros weighs 3 times as much as his competitors. Undeterred he signs up, but things didn’t go as planned - for Stavros or for the pageant organisers!
